MigrationWork CIC was commissioned by the Open Society Foundation to organize and facilitate a round table in May 2017 and produce a report on “Firewalling to Protect”. The Foundation is concerned about the human rights implications of demands from immigration enforcement agencies for access to material held and people served by statutory and voluntary organisations.

We looked specifically at

  • Child protection
  • Policing and crime
  • Health

These are areas in which concerns about the involvement of immigration enforcement have been raised recently and which are central to the right to life (and other related rights). The round table brought together practitioners, lawyers, Foundation staff, policy workers, campaigners, researchers to discuss what needs to be done to protect human rights in these areas.
