IncluCities: Building Inclusive Cities with Migrants

The Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR)

The INCLUCITIES project aims to improve the integration of migrants and refugees in small and medium-sized cities through city-to-city mentoring. Eight cities, with varying degrees of integration-related experience, and eight national associations of local and regional government participate in the project, led by CEMR and funded by the EU’s Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF).

VALUES utilised peer-to-peer knowledge exchange between 16 European cities, grouped into 4 thematic clusters, to build the capacity of city officials and volunteer organisations to facilitate migrant integration.

MigrationWork is facilitating a three-day Urban Academy on Integration. The initiative brings together cities, EU member states and the European Commission to jointly develop and put in place actions to foster the integration of migrants and refugees.

Firewalling to protect

Open Society Foundation

MigrationWork CIC was commissioned by the Open Society Foundation to organize and facilitate a round table in May 2017 and produce a report on “Firewalling to Protect”. The Foundation is concerned about the human rights implications of demands from immigration enforcement agencies for access to material held and people served by statutory and voluntary organisations.

SHARE II – Cities that Care, Cities that Share

International Catholic Migration Commission

This learning exchange, managed jointly by ICMC and the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, aimed to develop the EU Resettlement network of cities, municipalities, regions and other local bodies involved in, or committed to the resettlement, protection and integration of refugees.

An EU-wide project across seven countries, which uses peer review visits to projects promoting the employment of migrants to find out what increases the chances of them having long-term impact and how EU resources can be used more effectively.
