Community Integration Awards – Making Migration Work

MigrationWork Trust proudly presents the Community Integration Awards 2016 – a new initiative celebrating examples of good community integration and cohesion in the United Kingdom.

We want to influence the integration debate with positive examples, and support organisations doing good work in this field so they can flourish. The annual award focuses on grassroots and local initiatives around integration of migrant communities in the UK. It especially recognises the value of cooperation between grassroots organisations and others in society such as media, local authorities and businesses.

We backup our promotion of grassroots work with awards for large organisations doing outstanding integration work and media covering integration-related issues.

Nominations open 7th April 2016 and are open for a month until 5th May 2016. Anyone can submit nominations in the three categories – Grassroots Champions, Large Organisations Champions and Media Champions – and nominations are completely free. See the FAQs for details of which projects are eligible.

Nominations open on 7th April – so tell us who you think is making migration work!

Launch Reception – Thursday 7th April 18:00-20:00

We are marking the opening of nominations with a reception at the vibrant Fashion and Textile Museum in Bermondsey, London. Niki Kopcke, Founder and CEO of Mazí Mas, and Mary Schoeser, author of Textiles: The Art of Mankind, will be speaking at the event, and there will be the opportunity to meet many of our judges and enjoy drinks and food by Mazí Mas.

This is also a unique opportunity to explore the Fashion and Textile Museum and its exhibitions which will be open to you on the night. The choice of venue celebrates the strong, vibrant connection between textiles and intercultural contact and community integration; through textile production and through migrant designers and makers.
