UNITES is a project exploring co-designing integration strategies with migrants and stakeholders, coordinated by Eurocities and supported by expert partner MigrationWork and migrant-led organisations New Women Connectors and UNITEE. The project includes the following eight partner cities: Athens (EL), Bologna (IT), Dusseldorf (DE), Grenoble Alpes Metropole (FR), Prague (CZ), Oulu (FI), Zagreb (HR), Zaragoza (ES). We now invite city councils, migrant organisations and other stakeholders to send us inspiring co-design experiences in the area of integration strategy planning and beyond to inform the learning in this project.

We are particularly looking for examples that

  • have created opportunities for stakeholders and migrants to actively participate in needs analysis, strategy planning, implementation and evaluation
  • have used innovative formats to tap into the creativity and experience of migrants and established residents
  • have mobilised the participation of a highly diverse group of participants, including vulnerable migrant groups, and have found ways to empower them to participate in integration strategy design
  • have demonstrated the benefit of co-design to improve integration strategies and outcomes

While UNITES is focused on co-design in the field of integration, we are also interested in inspiring experiences from neighbouring and related areas.

What will happen with the co-design experiences in UNITES?

Supported by MigrationWork CIC – the expert partner of UNITES – project participants will select six particularly inspiring co-design experiences to use in training and peer learning with local integration practitioners, such as municipality staff and civil society stakeholders. Protagonists of these cases will be invited to share their experience in person at a pilot training for local integration practitioners in September 2022 in Brussels. UNITES will also feature these experiences in an online course and a guide on co-designing integration strategies.

How to participate?
