MigrationWork is working on something!
Commissioned by the Greater London Authority and the Mayor of London, we are writing a guide to the good practice developed by London local authorities, NGOs and communities in welcoming and resettling people from Hong Kong and Ukraine.
To develop the guide, we worked with researchers from both communities, who convened and ran focus groups exploring lived experiences and what had – and had not – worked in practice. We also interviewed local authority officers and NGO partners who have delivered some of this work on the ground.
The guide will be published soon, and cover:
- How local authorities develop readiness to welcome large scale arrivals
- The immediate response
- Access to information, advice and rights
- Housing
- Health and mental health
- Employment
- Education, children and families
- Participation and community led activity
- Building connections with the wider community
We hope it will be a valuable resource for all those working with new arrivals and communities.
