UTC Mannheim, 17-19 February 2016

On 18 February, MigrationWork CIC’s Chair Richard Stanton was in Mannheim, Germany, to give an ‘impulse’ keynote talk at the Urban Thinkers Campus of UN-Habitat on Migration, democratic renewal and the integrating city.

The Urban Thinkers Campus program focuses on migration and the city. It was a three-day event, from 17-19 February, with discussions and exchange on the topic of Urban Citizenship in a Nomadic World. Full details on the UTC Mannheim Homepage.

The Urban Thinkers Campus, one of a series happening in different parts of the world in 2016, is an initiative of UN-Habitat’s World Urban Campaign. Each Campus focuses on current and future challenges of urban life, aiming to develop solutions that are globally adoptable for other cities. It is conceived as an open space for critical exchange between urban actors who see urbanisation as an opportunity that can lead to positive urban transformations. The United Nations promotes it to create awareness among citizens on urban issues, and to contribute to the “New Urban Agenda” of the Habitat III conference to be held in Quito next autumn.
